MAGIC and adventure played out in a Tamworth park last weekend as hundreds of people enjoyed an open air performance of The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny.
It was the first time that Dosthill Park had been used for outdoor theatre and the community setting proved to be a big hit with audience members.
The action unfolded on Sunday, August 16, when Quantum Theatre’s enchanting and interactive production followed the capers of Peter Rabbit and his friends as they went on a daring adventure into Mr McGregor’s garden.
More than 300 people enjoyed the show, with many taking blankets and picnics for a relaxing afternoon in the park.
The event was made possible as part of I Am Tamworth – a 12-month project run by Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts and Events team and funded by Arts Council England which aims to increase community participation in the arts.
Deputy Leader of Tamworth Borough Council, Cllr Robert Pritchard, said: “This was a great example of how the arts can be taken out into the community. Dosthill Park proved to be the perfect setting for this performance which was enjoyed by hundreds of people.
“We had great feedback on the day, with people saying they would like more entertainment to be held in Dosthill Park and we will certainly be looking to make this happen in the future.”
