Results are in for local Hospital Trust survey

Burton Foundations Hospital NHS trust

GOOD communication, timely discharges and a restful night’s sleep have all been praised by patients at Burton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in the National Inpatient Survey.

The annual survey, run by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), is designed to understand what patients think about the care and treatment they receive.

Burton Hospitals were rated as performing better than most trusts in areas including maintaining good performance in delays to discharge, performing well in relation to patients being disturbed by noise at night, and performing well and showing improvement in communication and information in relation to operations and procedures.

The Trust were also praised by patients for showing improvement in areas such as hospital food and the number of nurses caring for patients in wards and clinics.

Brendan Brown, Chief Nurse, said: “Our patients are our number one priority and we strive to ensure that the experience they receive at our hospitals is of the very best quality. The National Inpatient Survey is one way we can find out just what they think about the care they receive, from the first the time they come in until the time they are discharged.

“We know there are areas we need to improve upon and don’t always get it right for every patient. But listening and talking to patients and their loved ones is incredibly important in shaping the kind of care we want to provide at Burton Hospitals. It is our mission to provide exceptional patient experience and we will continue to empower our staff to make a positive difference to people’s care.”
