THE Tamworth branch of Home-Start, a national family support charity, has received a donation of £2,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Rugeley.
Home-Start in Tamworth provides life-changing support for families when they face challenging times. The charity works with vulnerable families in Staffordshire, providing practical aid and emotional support through a series of initiatives including dedicated family workers and a 1:1 intensive programme of support.
Home-Start will use the donation to help fund the training of a volunteer who will work in the community throughout 2019. The money will also fund a thank-you lunch for the volunteers who support local families.
This is the first time that Amazon in Rugeley has supported Home-Start in Tamworth. To mark this donation, Amazon team members visited the charity in Tamworth to meet the volunteers and learn about their great community work.
Amazon’s Rugeley General Manager, Nathan Fetherston, said: “We’re happy to lend a helping hand to Home-Start this year. The charity is a lifeline for families in our community during times of need. The Amazon team really enjoyed meeting the staff and volunteers at Home-Start in Tamworth and we’re pleased to support an important cause.”
Dawn Candy from Home-Start in Tamworth added: “It’s wonderful to receive a donation from Amazon. Nathan and his team continue to support us in our efforts to provide a vital service to families across Staffordshire and to know the local team from Amazon is behind us is really encouraging. I’d like to say thank you to them for helping us support vulnerable families in times of need.”
The ongoing support of Home-Start forms part of the “Amazon In The Community” programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
