Man dies in fatal collision near Stafford

TRAGICALLY, a man has died following a road traffic collision in Haughton, near Stafford.

At around 6.25pm on Saturday 12 January 2019, police were called to reports of a single-vehicle collision involving a black Vauxhall Corsa on the A518 between Haughton and Stafford close to The Villa Cattery.

Emergency services attended and the driver – a 20-year-old man – was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital where he sadly died today (Sunday 13 January) from his injuries.

Specialist officers are supporting the man’s family.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the Corsa before the collision and anyone with relevant dashcam footage. Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident 609 of 12 January.

This latest loss of life on the Counties roads comes just days after it was announced that Staffordshire’s roads are amongst the safest in the Country.

With 27% fewer fatal and serious injuries on the roads in 2016 compared to 2001, Staffordshire is currently ranked 8th best out of 46 police force areas for road safety.
