Peel Road Runners take over organisation of Gate Gallop 10km Charity run

Monday, 16th April 2018

FOR many years, Peel Road Runners have had a long-standing relationship with the organisers of the Tamworth Gate Gallop 10km charity event and in 2018, they take on the organisation.

The race, which is held in the June of each year, helps to raise money for the St Giles Hospice and this year will see the total amount raised by the event over the years exceed the £100k mark.

In 2018 the organisation of the event is being taken over by the Peel Road Runners themselves and to the recognise this milestone the club is organising a ‘Couch to Gallop’ training course specifically designed to encourage new runners to complete the 5km fun run that is held alongside the 10km main event on race day – June 24th 2018.

The course is open to anyone 12yrs old and above and will be held over the nine weeks leading up to the day of the event, starting on Tuesday 24th April. You will be required to commit to running three times a week in order to get the most out of the course which will be led by qualified Athletics England coaches from the Peel Road Runners.

The total cost of the course is £5 per person and all the proceeds will be given to St Giles Hospice.

If you’re interested and want to find out more about the event then you can go to The Gate Gallop website or visit the Peel Road Runners Beginners Facebook page. Ask to join the public group and add your name in the comments section for the appropriate post.
