Tamworth’s annual Pancake Race took place today with the races kicking off from 12 noon in the shadows of the Town Hall.
The event is now in its 19th year and is organised by the Rotary Club of Tamworth and Councillor Lee Bates, who also took part this year dressed as Spiderman.
There were prizes this year for the best team fancy dress, the winning relay team and the fastest overall individual. Every person that took part also got given a certificate of participation.
The entry fee for the event was £5 for individuals and £25 for teams, all of this money going to the Rotary Club of Tamworth charity fund. The individuals and teams also had their own sponsorship for their chosen charities.
Speaking to the team from Harmony Group, a charity that supports children and parents of children with autism they informed me that they have raised enough sponsorship to pay for a guest speaker on special education for one of their events.
The Winners this year;
Best Fancy Dress - Harmony Group
Fastest Relay Team - Pickerings Solicitors
Fastest Individual - Joshua Saxton, Pickerings Solicitors
The awards were handed out at The Castle Hotel amongst Pancakes and refreshments.
