Free energy saving measures available through HEAT scheme

Wednesday, 24th February 2016

RESIDENTS in Tamworth are being urged to call the free HEAT scheme to find out whether they are eligible for a government scheme which offers full grants for central heating systems, new boilers, cavity wall and loft insulation.

Tamworth Borough Council’s Home Energy Advice Tamworth (HEAT) scheme is working in partnership with Warm Zones CiC to offer 100% funding for the installation of heating systems and insulation in qualifying parts of Tamworth.

The funding is being made available by the Tamworth Borough Council and the Warm Zones Fund, which targets the areas of greatest need. There is no need to be in receipt of benefits to qualify for the funding

Owner occupied, privately rented and council-owned homes can all benefit from the funding, as long as they are in those parts of Tamworth designated as Carbon Savings Community Obligation Areas.

Residents in Tamworth are being urged to call the free HEAT number on 0800 043 2815 to find out if their home falls into the eligible area. Even if homes are not in the CSCO areas, HEAT advisers will be able to check for other funding and offer advice.

The free HEAT line is open from 9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Residents can also text 0792 265 1982 and an adviser will call back. Alternatively, email

Owner occupied and privately rented homes in the CSCO areas are eligible for a new heating system (where there is none currently fitted), a replacement heating system/boiler where the current system/boiler is beyond repair, cavity wall and loft insulation.

Homes rented from Tamworth Borough Council in the CSCO area are eligible for cavity wall and loft insulation.

Cllr Stephen Doyle, Cabinet member for Communities & Public Health, said:

“I am delighted that Tamworth Borough Council is working with Warm Zones to offer these free heating and energy efficiency measure in the areas of greatest need in Tamworth.

“We know that keeping warm is vital to good health and this project will help to reduce the number of illnesses and accidents relating to unsafe and cold housing, as well as helping to provide safe, secure and healthy homes.

“I would encourage all residents in Tamworth who think they may benefit from the Warm Zones funding to call the free HEAT number. Even if you are not eligible for that, our HEAT advisers may be able to point you to other sources of funding, as well as offering free help and advice.”

HEAT is a partnership between Tamworth Borough Council, Marches Energy Agency and Beat the Cold.
