Fireworks spectacular back with a bang on November 7

October 20, 2015

REMEMBER remember the seventh of November as the date when Tamworth’s free fireworks spectacular lights up the sky with a breathtaking display above the Castle Grounds.

Since its return eight years ago the popular event has become a firm family favourite on the Tamworth calendar and it continues to grow each year, drawing more and more visitors from across the region.

In 2014 it attracted record crowds and Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts & Events team is committed to building on that success this year.

The whole family can enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment, starting at 6pm and including fire performers, face painting, a sparkler zone, family activities, food stalls and the fair.

The climax of the event will of course be the dazzling 20-minute pyrotechnic display set to music, which will light up the sky from 8pm.

Chambers Tamworth car dealership is sponsoring the free event for the third year running and will be exhibiting some of its cars near the Holloway car park.

General manager, Janice Howes, said: “Last year we came down to the Tamworth fireworks event and had a fantastic evening meeting people and being part of a fun local event. So when the opportunity arose to be a part of it again this year, we jumped at the chance.

“This year we’re really getting into the spirit of things with some great giveaways and, as always, incredible offers.”

As the event is expected to be incredibly popular, people are advised to walk or use public transport to the Castle Grounds where possible.

Limited free parking will be available at town centre car parks from 6pm and motorists are reminded that any parking must be in accordance with prevailing traffic orders.

Enforcement may be carried out by Staffordshire County Council officers for public safety and traffic flow purposes where vehicles are illegally parked.

Tamworth Borough Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Robert Pritchard, said: “We are very proud of our fantastic programme of free events in Tamworth and the fireworks are particularly popular. It’s a great evening of fun and entertainment for the whole family and I would encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the show.

“We also ask people to consider how they will get there because although some free parking is available after 6pm, spaces are limited and we would urge people not to park illegally on grass verges, or double yellow lines and so on. We want families to come and have a great evening out, but safety is paramount, so please bear that in mind when attending.”

Tamworth’s programme of outdoor events is sponsored by Ankerside Shopping Centre.
