Tonight will see Tamworth’s free fireworks spectacular

Tamworth fireworks spectacular

TONIGHT will see the biggest and most popular event in Tamworth’s calendar with only days remaining until a spectacular display of fireworks lights up the sky above the Castle Grounds.

The preparation for the annual free fireworks event which is back with a bang tonight promises another great evening of entertainment for the whole family.

The fun kicks off at 6pm and includes fire performers, face painting, a sparkler zone, family activities, food stalls and the fair – ahead of the main event at 8pm when a dazzling 20-minute pyrotechnic display, set to music, will light the night sky.

Since its return eight years ago the popular event has become a firm favourite on the Tamworth calendar and it continues to grow each year, drawing more and more visitors from across the region.

It attracted record crowds in 2014 and Tamworth Borough Council’s Arts & Events team is committed to building on that success this year.

As the event is expected to be incredibly popular, people are advised to walk or use public transport to the Castle Grounds where possible.

Limited free parking will be available at town centre car parks from 6pm and motorists are reminded that any parking must be in accordance with prevailing traffic orders. Enforcement may be carried out by Staffordshire County Council officers for public safety and traffic flow purposes where vehicles are illegally parked.

Tamworth Borough Council Deputy Leader, Cllr Robert Pritchard, said: “The popular free fireworks event is only days away and final preparations are now taking place to make sure this is another great fun-filled evening for the whole family and I would encourage everyone to come along and enjoy the show.

“We would also ask people to give a thought as to how they will get there and to walk or use public transport where possible as parking is limited. Safety is paramount so we would urge people not to park illegally on double yellow lines and grass verges and so on.”

Chambers Tamworth car dealership is sponsoring the free event for the third year running and will be exhibiting some of its cars near the Holloway car park.

Tamworth’s programme of outdoor events is also sponsored by Ankerside Shopping Centre.

  1. I am betting the protest won’t be over by three. Partly because the racists of edl may struggle to tell the time.

If the big hand is on 12 and the little hand is on 3 the protest should be over and you should all go back to your bail hostel.

  2. Yes is going to go of with a big bang if the protests are still there and its not fair on the family and the kids it is stupided on the same day of the fire works when its going to be packet out for me they have already spoilt the event I shell not be going
