OFFICERS from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Burton-upon-Trent last night.

At just after 10.30pm on Tuesday 22 January, Staffordshire Police were called to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Horninglow Road.

Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and a car with a doctor on board from the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance base attended the scene.

Sadly, despite best efforts of emergency services, a man in his 30s died at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance crews arrived they found police administering CPR to a male pedestrian who had reportedly been in collision with a vehicle. Ambulance staff continued advanced life support on scene but sadly, despite best efforts, nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead a short time later.”

A 25-year-old man from Burton-on-Trent was arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

An investigation has been launched and anyone with information or anyone with dash-cam footage is asked to Richard.Moors@staffordshire.pnn.police.uk quoting incident number 776 of 22 January.
