Families urged to explore Staffordshire over the summer.are being urged to take advantage of the warm weather and explore the county’s many attractions over the summer.
Whether it’s a storytelling festival, bushcraft skills, family cycle rides in beautiful countryside, or treasure hunting, the county promises something for all the family over the holidays.
The Just So Festival (Friday 17th – Sunday 19th August) in Rode Hall Estate, Scholar Green is great for families who love camping and the outdoors. The weekend showcases art, music, literature, comedy and theatre so there is something for everyone to enjoy!
Thrill seekers will enjoy the adrenaline rush of rides and roller coasters in Alton Towers with the brand new ride Wicker Man or young children can ride and meet all their favourite characters in CBeebies Land!
Cannock Chase offers beautiful scenery and picturesque views for lovers of nature. With a number of different trails, you can walk, bike, hike and explore the forests!
The Chase Forest Adventure is also a fun and exciting day out for the whole family as you learn skills such as building shelters and cooking yummy foods(Wednesday 8th – Friday 10th August, Wednesday 15th – Friday 17th August and Wednesday 22nd – Thursday 23rd August).
If you like solving clues and following maps, Escape Maze: Agent Academy at the National Forest Adventure Farm in Burton-on-Trent is the perfect day out for friends and family to work together to escape the maze!
The Trentham Estate has many different attractions for all the family! Whether you enjoy the quiet and beautiful gardens or if you want to brave the barefoot walk, conquer the adventure park or take a stroll in the monkey forest, it is a perfect day out for everyone to enjoy!
If you love swimming and water slides, Waterworld in Stoke-on-Trent is open every day in summer! They will also be holding an event exclusively for children with additional needs and their families providing easier access to pools and rides! (11th August)
Mark Winnington, Cabinet Member for Economic Growth at Staffordshire County Council explained that the county had something for all the family and the summer holidays are a great chance to get out there and see what’s on offer.
Mark said: “Whether it’s the thrills of our theme parks like Alton Towers or Drayton Manor Park or relaxing visits to stately homes, we’ll have something for everyone. And if the nice weather continues there’s also lots of outdoor fun too, like the National Forest Adventure Farm, Trentham Gardens or a weekend away at the Just So Festival.
“Staffordshire is a wonderful county with a booming tourism economy and I’d definitely urge people to go for a Staycation this summer.”
Staffordshire’s tourism economy is worth around £1.7 billion annually with around 25 million people enjoying day or overnight trips to the county. The sector also supports over 31,000 jobs.
