POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in Lichfield on Friday (17 March).
Emergency services were called at around 11.10pm on Friday to the A38 Northbound, at the Fradley Park junction, following reports of a VW Polo leaving the road.
The driver, a 28-year-old man from Burton, was removed from the vehicle by colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. He was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment, and his condition is currently described as critical.
The road was closed for several hours whilst detailed investigation work was carried out by officers from the West Midlands Regional Collision Investigation Unit.
Police would like to thank the public for their patience and are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Anyone with any information, in particular drivers with dashcams who were travelling along the A38 at the time, are asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 876 of 17 March.
