Two arrested for drug offences after Tamworth stop-and-search

A 35-year-old man from Tamworth and an 18-year-old man from Birmingham have been detained over drug offences following a stop-and-search in Tamworth.

Officers stopped the blue VW Caddy vehicle the pair were travelling in at 4.30pm on Wednesday (19 May) on Bitterscote Drive.

A quantity of cash and mobile phones were discovered in the vehicle. Further searches revealed quantities of heroin and crack.

The driver also failed a drugs test.

Both were arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs with intent to supply.

The 18-year-old man, Mohammed Hassan, was later charged with possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.
He is due to appear before magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre later today (20 May).

The 35-year-old man was released under investigation while inquiries continue.
