Did you witness a road traffic collision in Streethay, Lichfield?

STAFFORDSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision on the A5127, Burton Road at Streethay yesterday.

The Streethay collision occurred at around 7.40am Tuesday 2 December when a white Vauxhall Vivaro taxi was in collision with a pedal cyclist on the pelican crossing near to Meadow Croft.

The cyclist, a 16-year-old boy from the local area, was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The 36-year-old male driver of the vehicle, from the Burton area, was checked over at the scene by paramedics. He was not injured.

Following the collision the road was closed for approximately three hours whilst specialist officers examined the scene.

Staffordshire Police would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding at this time.

A detailed investigation into the circumstances of the collision is now underway. Witnesses are asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident 95 of December 2.
