PLANS have been submitted to Tamworth Borough Council for a convenience store to be built as part of the Anker Valley development.
The detailed plans show a large convenience store, along with a smaller adjoining store on the Anker Valley development, fronting on to the Ashby Road on the North side of the town.
The larger of the two stores will be 4,250 sq foot and the smaller unit will be 825 sq foot in size. The application is for both units to have ‘A1 permission’ which covers things like Shops, hairdressers, undertakers, travel and ticket agencies, post offices, pet shops, sandwich bars, showrooms, domestic hire shops, dry cleaners, funeral directors and internet cafes.
As well as the actual stores, the application shows 21 car parking spaces, a cycle park and a service yard for deliveries. There will also be hard and soft landscaping around the store and an incorporated ATM.
It is estimated that once the stores open, it will create 10 full-time and 18 part-time employment positions.
Whilst there is no indication as to what the smaller store will be, it is understood by Tamworth Informed that the larger store will be a Co-op store, although it has been confirmed by Tamworth Co-operative Society that it is not them developing the store.
