Man arrested in connection to Two Gates hit-and-run

STAFFORDSHIRE Police have this evening stated that a 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a non-stop collision where a 92-year-old man died.

The man, from Tamworth, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.

He is currently helping officers with their enquiries.

Staffordshire Police have said that they would like to thank the public for their support.

The identity of the gentleman killed in the collision has not been named officially at this time, he has, however, been named locally as Ike.

Yesterday evening we reported how Two Gates Club where the 92-year-old gentleman was a member has offered the reward to anyone who passes information to the police that leads to the arrest and conviction of the driver of the vehicle.

In a post on the clubs Facebook page, they say:

“On Friday 21st Dec 2018 at approximately 22:45 a well loved 92-year-old member of Two Gates Club was hit by a vehicle whilst crossing the road at Two Gates and sadly passed away at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends and everyone at the club is saddened by the loss of such a wonderful gentleman. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop

“We are offering a £1000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the driver”.

Information can be passed to the police by calling 101 and quoting incident 924 of 21 December 2018.
