THE Tamworth Citizens Advice Bureau is moving to Marmion House – with its new base opening on Monday July 4.
The organisation – which provides free, independent, impartial and confidential advice to anyone who needs it – is currently based at the Philip Dix Centre in Corporation Street. The centre is due to close in August, ahead of its transformation into a Business & Enterprise Centre as part of the £6.1m Enterprise Quarter development.
Tamworth Borough Council has been working closely with tenants of the Philip Dix Centre to help them find new accommodation, with CAB electing to move to the authority’s offices in Lichfield Street.
The move will see the CAB take office space on the ground floor of Marmion House. The charity will have its own reception area, which will be manned by CAB staff from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday. The receptionists will be able to provide details of all the services offered by the CAB and how they can be accessed.
The CAB will operate the same hours of opening that it currently offers – face-to-face drop-in advice on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 2pm and telephone advice on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 2pm.
Tamworth CAB Chief Executive, David Gooding, said: “We are looking forward to relocating our service alongside Tamworth Borough Council, which is our major funder, as this will give us the opportunity to work together more closely for the benefit of Tamworth residents. We are also very pleased for all the help and support we have received from Tamworth Borough Council with our move.”
Cllr Rob Pritchard, Tamworth Borough Council Deputy Leader, said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Tamworth CAB to Marmion House. This move helps to offer more essential services to the public in one place. Although they are taking offices in Marmion House, the CAB will remain completely independent from the council and will continue to offer first-rate independent and impartial advice to the public.
“I hope that many more groups and organisations will join them in Marmion House in the future.”
