CINDERELLA cast is made up of local actors who volunteer their time every year to put on pantomimes for the people of Tamworth – and some of the stars may be familiar to regular audiences.
The Ugly Sisters, Maxi Mumm and Mini Mumm, are the characters you can’t help but laugh at.
They are played by family favourites Alex Farrell and Terry Batham, and they will get the audience in stitches with their sibling bickering and outrageous outfits.
Terry is well known for playing the irrepressible baddie, having performed at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms for nearly twenty years, but this is not his first time on stage in stilettos.
“This is my second time playing an ugly sister, and it’s one of my favourite roles,” Terry said: “I love bouncing off the audience and giving them some banter, but it’s a part like no other because it’s all about the relationship with my on-stage ‘sister’.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Alex, we get on excellently and suit the parts of Maxi and Mini scarily well.
“If rehearsals are anything to go by, Cinderella will be really funny and I can’t wait to get started.”
Alex is a presenter on local radio station TCR fm, and has been doing pantomime in Tamworth for eight years.
This is his first time as an Ugly Sister, although he is no stranger to dressing up as a woman in the name of pantomime as last year he played Dame Daphne Dumpling in Dick Whittington.
Alex said: “This is my first time in a double act, and I’m really enjoying the experience of being on stage with the same person all the time.
“Working with Terry makes it a pleasure as we are great friends off-stage and are always having a laugh together, so that transfers on-stage and we can really play the audience up – they won’t know whether to boo us or laugh at us!
Cinderella opens at the Tamworth Assembly Rooms this Wednesday 17 December and runs to 23 December and then back again 2 – 4 January.
