TAMWORTH residents are being urged to see if there are any changes to their bin collections over Christmas by checking their new bin calendar.
Households that have their bins emptied on a Tuesday or Wednesday across Tamworth Borough will have some changes to their bin collections over the festive period.
Bins will not be emptied on Tuesday December 25, Wednesday December 26 and Tuesday January 1. Replacement collections are detailed in the new bin calendars that have been sent out to homes recently.
Councillor John Chesworth, Tamworth Borough Council Cabinet Member for Culture and Operational Services, said: “We have tried to keep disruption to a minimum, but there are some changes to Tuesday and Wednesday collections throughout the holiday period. Replacement collections are detailed in your new bin calendar, so please make sure you check it to see when to put your bins out over Christmas.
“If you have extra recycling, simply put it in clear, tied plastic bags next to your blue bin on your collection day.”
If you haven’t received a bin calendar yet, you can view the online calendar via www.tamworth.gov.uk/bins-and-recycling or call the Joint Waste Service on 0345 002 0022.
Tamworth Borough Council is also reminding residents not to forget to recycle over Christmas. Festive waste that can go in your blue bin includes wrapping paper and Christmas cards that don’t contain any foil or glitter, cardboard and plastic packaging, mulled wine, brandy and sherry bottles, and food containers, such as mince pie foil cases and brandy butter tubs. Information about what can go in each bin is also included on the reverse of the bin calendars.
Garden waste collections finish this week (Friday, December 21) and will start again week commencing Monday, January 21. Subscription for the 2019 garden waste service is now open at www.tamworth.gov.uk/mygardenbin.
Festive waste to go in your green bin includes your real Christmas tree, which needs to be chopped up so it fits in the bin with the lid closed, and real holly and ivy decorations.
