A MULTI vehicle collision on the roundabout for the junction of M42 and A5 is causing delays this afternoon.

The collision involving a number of vehicles occurred on the roundabout, close to the Trinith Road turn.

Emergency Services including West Midlands Amulance Serrvice and Police from both Warwickshire and Staffordshire are currently in attendance.

We will bring you an update as we get it.

Freasley RTC

A COLLISION this afternoon on Trinity Road at the junction with Overwoods Road at Freasley left the occupants of the vehicle with only minor injuries.

The collision, late this afternoon (Tuesday 15 September) involved a Eddie Stobart HGV and a grey estate vehicle. The road was blocked for some time following the collision.

Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the scene.

A COLLISION at the junction of Overwoods Road and Trinity Road is causing delays this afternoon.

The collision, just out of the Tamworth Borough involves a Car and an HGV.

The collision is one of many at the junction which is known as an accident black spot.

It is understood that earlier in the year a petition was submitted to Warwickshire County Council to improve conditions at the junction.

WANTED: James Liddle

POLCE in Atherstone have issued the image of a 27-year-old man who is wanted on recall to prison.

James Frederick Liddle, from Atherstone, was released on license on the 1st September after being sentenced to 8 weeks in prison after an assault. He has been recalled to prison after breaching his license conditions.

Anyone who has any information as to his whereabouts is asked to get in touch with Warwickshire Police on 101.

Police collision investigation unit

Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A446, Wishaw, Close the the Belfry yesterday (Wednesday 2nd September) at around 4:15pm.

A white Mercedes lorry travelling in the direction of Bassetts Pole Island collided with a Ford Mondeo at the junction of Grove Lane on the A446.

The passenger of the Ford, an elderly man, was taken to University Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital with serious injuries. The female, despite the efforts of all those involved, was confirmed dead at the scene

The male driver of the lorry received slight injuries.

A paramedic area support officer, two ambulance crews and the Midlands Air Ambulances from Cosford and Staffordshire attended. There were three passers-by all withmedical backgrounds who stopped to help.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The woman was removed from the damaged car but despite the efforts of all those involved, she was confirmed dead at the scene.

“A man in his eighties who was a front seat passenger in the car had a chest injury, suspected fractured ribs and sternum and back pain. He was immobilised with the use of a scoop stretcher, headblocks and straps and was given pain relief and anti-sickness drugs before being flown to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or the circumstances leading up to it, is urged to call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident 193 of 2nd September 2015.

A motorcyclist has suffered serious leg injuries after crashing her bike in Mancetter.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Nuneaton Road at 1.10pm today.

An advanced community paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer in a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance crew and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The biker, a woman in her forties, was treated at the scene for serious leg injuries and a suspected broken arm. Her wounds were dressed, her limbs were splinted, she was given pain relief and immobilised before being flown to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.
“She had collided with a van in which were two men, neither of whom was injured.”

Warwickshire Police are appealing for information to trace a man who is wanted on recall to prison, after breaching his licence conditions.

Ross Jordan Chatterton, aged 19, was released from prison on licence on Friday 21 August after being convicted of burglary and theft.

Since being released he has breached his bail conditions by failing to return to his address.

Chatterton has links to Nuneaton and Coventry.

Anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call police on 101 immediately.

Roadworks upper gungate

Last night, works began on the eastbound carriageway of the A5 towards Dordon and are set to continue for just under one month, until 20 September.

The pavement renewal scheme is located on the A5 eastbound, commences from M42 Junction 10 to Dordon roundabout and will run Mondays to Fridays, 8pm until 6am.

After completion of the resurfacing works, renewal of road markings, studs and loops will also be carried out.

The works will be carried out under total night time carriageway closures between M42 Junction 10 eastbound on A5 to Dordon Roundabout, a length of over one mile (1834 metres).

In order to carry out the works, two diversion routes - ONE for non-motorway diversion traffic and the OTHER for motorway diversion traffic, shall be in place.

Diversion route for Non – Motorway Traffic

Traffic from A5 eastbound, wishing to use A5 eastbound after M42J10, shall exit onto Pennine Way which is 350 metres west of M42 Junction 10, drive onto Pennine way to next roundabout, at this roundabout, take second exit onto B5080, and drive onto B5080 for 0.1 mile until next roundabout, at this roundabout take 1st exit onto Pennine Way/B5080, drive for 1.2 mile until next roundabout, at this roundabout, take 3rd exit onto Glascote Rd/B5000, drive onto Tamworth Rd/B5000 for 5.1 mile until the next roundabout, at this roundabout, turn right onto Atherstone Rd/B4116 , drive onto Atherstone Rd/Holly Lane/B4116 to the next roundabout with A5, drive onto A5 to the destination. Total length – 8 miles (=12.90km)

Traffic from A5 westbound wishing to use A5 eastbound after M42J10, shall exit onto A5 westbound from M42, carry on A5 WB for 320 metres, exit onto Centurion Way, drive until Centurion Way/B5080 roundabout, take right turn onto B5080 and drive onto B5080 to the next roundabout. At this roundabout take 1st exit onto B5080 and drive onto B5080 for 0.1 mile until next roundabout, at this roundabout take the 1st exit onto Pennine Way/B5080, drive for 1.2 mile until next roundabout, at this roundabout, take 3rd exit onto Glascote Rd/B5000, drive onto Tamworth Rd/B5000 for 5.1 mile until the next roundabout, at this roundabout, turn right onto Atherstone Rd/B4116 , drive onto Atherstone Rd/Holly Lane/B4116 to the next roundabout with A5, drive onto A5 to the destination. Diversion route for Motorway Traffic

At M42 Junction 10, drive onto M42 northbound until M42 Junction 11, take Off- Slip northbound, at the next roundabout, take right turn onto A444, continue onto A444/ Atherstone Road, drive past Twycross and reach to A5 and to destination, total distance 17.7 miles (=28.5 kilometres)

Emergency vehicle access through the works area will be maintained for the duration of the works.

WARWICKSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision on the Mancetter Road (B4111), Nuneaton yesterday morning (Wednesday 19th August) in which a vehicle failed to stop.

The collision occurred at 7.51am and involved a car and a motorbike. The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was taken to Walsgrave Hospital. The driver of the car left the scene without stopping. The car was described as navy blue and is possibly a Vauxhall Astra Hatchback

Road closures were in place at the scene of the collision until around 11.30am.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen either vehicle before or following the collision, to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 70 of 19th August 2015.

M42 collision

THE driver of a flatbed van was trapped by his legs for an hour this morning at a serious RTC on the motorway.

The crash occurred on the M42, between junction 9 and 10, Southbound, Tamworth at around 7.45am. Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find four vehicles that are believed to have been in a collision.

“The driver of a flatbed van was trapped in the cab of his vehicle by his legs. The man, believed to be in his early 20’s, received emergency treatment at the scene by medics, who worked with the fire service to ensure the patient was released as quickly and safely as possible. The man was released from the vehicle in around 60 minutes.

“The man had received pain relief for his injuries, believed to include a fractured leg. Once the patient’s condition was stabilised he was airlifted to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.

“The air ambulance landed on the motorway to access the incident which meant the carriageway was closed in both directions.

“The passenger in the flatbed, a man believed to be in his 20’s, managed to get out of the vehicle and was treated for neck and back pain by medics. The man was transferred by ambulance to Heartlands Hospital for further treatment.

“The man driving a van involved in the crash, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Due to the nature of the collision he was transferred to Good Hope Hospital fur further treatment.

“The drivers of two HGV vehicles were checked over at the scene by ambulance crews but did not require hospital treatment.

“Emergency services staff worked seamlessly at the scene to ensure the patients received the best possible treatment as quickly and safely as possible.”
