Man sadly killed in Lichfield traffic collision

OFFICERS from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Lichfield.

Police were called at 1430 GMT this afternoon (Wednesday 24 February) to reports of a two-vehicle collision on Cappers Lane.

The collision involved a red Vauxhall Meriva and a HGV.

Sadly, a man, the driver of the Vauxhall Meriva, died at the scene. The driver of the HGV was not injured.

Specialist officers are supporting the man’s family.

At Tamworth Informed our thoughts are with the family and friends of the gentleman that lost his life and also with those in the Emergency Services that attended the scene.

Witnesses who may have seen the vehicles before the fatal collision or anyone with relevant dashcam footage should contact Staffordshire Police by calling 101, via their website www.staffordshire.police.uk or via their Facebook or Twitter pages quoting incident number 364 of 24 February of 23 January.
