AN update to the incident we reported this morning has confirmed that a pedestrian was hit by a bus on a busy Town Centre road.
The collision occurred shortly after 08:30GMT this morning, Friday 29 March on Aldergate, close to the junction with St John Street.
A red and grey ‘Diamond’ bus was involved in the collision. Diamond operates bus services 15, 16, 16A and X16 from Corporation Street in Tamworth to Kingsbury and Birmingham.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “Officers were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Aldergate, Tamworth, at 8.37am this morning (Friday, March 29).
“The pedestrian, a man, suffered minor head injuries and will be taken to Good Hope Hospital by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.”
West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.37am to reports of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian outside Pizza Hut. One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended. The patient, a male pedestrian, was treated for injuries not believed to be serious.”
