OFFICERS from Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses or information following a residential burglary in Atherstone this week.
The incident relates to a burglary in Church Walk, Atherstone at approximately 8:30am on Monday 19 November.
Entry was gained to the house via a downstairs window and a number of items were stolen, including a substantial amount of jewellery. The house alarm was activated during the burglary.
The suspect was seen to run away from the house and is described as being tall and thin, and wearing a grey / green jacket and some form of face covering. He ran down Church Walk, turned right onto South Street at the top of Convent Lane, and towards Outwoods Primary School.
Subsequently, a male was located and arrested on suspicion of the burglary on Witherley Lane, wearing a grey tracksuit. It is believed that he had stored his jacket and the jewellery somewhere locally.
Andrew Morris, 32, of no fixed abode but residing in Bedworth, appeared at Warwick Magistrates’ Court this morning and was remanded to appear at Warwick Crown Court on 20 December.
Local residents are asked to check their front and rear gardens where a jacket or jewellery might be hidden, or any other items they believe might be connected to the burglary. Any information on the incident or whereabouts of the jewellery or jacket, would be greatly appreciated.
