Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses and information following a suspected arson attack on Donnithorne Avenue, Nuneaton.

The incident took place early yesterday morning (Wednesday 10 February) at approximately 6:15am.

Offenders are thought to have gained access to the back garden of a house. A number of vehicles and parts, which were piled together by the rear wall of the address, are believed to have been set alight.

The fire caused substantial damage to the property. Although nobody was hurt an elderly couple, who are both partially deaf, were asleep in the house at the time and unaware of the fire.

DC Sharon Marshall of Nuneaton CID said:

“Fortunately neighbours alerted emergency services before more extensive damage was caused to the property. This could have caused serious harm to those inside. We are urging anyone with information, or who saw suspicious activity in the area at the time, to call us on 101 quoting incident 25 of Wednesday 10 February.”
