Police re-appeal for information after 84-year-old pensioner assaulted

POLICE in Tamworth are again appealing for information to find the man responsible for a heartless, cruel and unprovoked attack on a frail senior citizen in Tamworth on 30 January.

CCTV footage captured an 84-year-old man being shoved out of the way at the main entrance to the Ankerside Shopping Centre in Tamworth.

Officers from Tamworth Local Policing Team have issued new CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with an assault.

The incident occurred at around 9:50am on Tuesday 30 January.  An appeal was launched at the time but this has been unsuccessful and Police appealing for anyone who may be able to help identify the man to come forward.

Chief Inspector Ashley Farrington, the commander for the Tamworth local policing team, said: “This is a despicable attack on an elderly gentleman who uses a stick to get around.

Fortunately, he only suffered minor injuries, but this sort of attack is never acceptable and so we are asking anyone who can help to get in touch so we can catch this bully.”
