Ankerside in Bloom heads to centre’s Stay & Play morning

August 14, 2017

THE town’s shopping centre will be continuing its summer of garden-themed fun next week as Stay & Play returns for free seed planting, crafts and games.

Ankerside Shopping Centre’s monthly Stay & Play morning will return on Thursday, 31 August, where little ones will have the chance to plant their very own cress seeds and take them home to see how they grow.

Alongside all the gardening fun, children along with mums, dads and grandparents will also be able to enjoy inflatables, a bubble machine and a visit from Ankerside’s colourful monster between 9.30am and 11.30am.

Jeff Wigley, Ankerside Shopping Centre manager, said he is looking forward to bringing Ankerside in Bloom to the centre’s monthly Stay & Play. “The response to our garden-themed summer events have been brilliant, so we can’t wait to continue the fun at our next Stay & Play morning,” he said.

“Throughout the morning, little ones will be learning all about planting seeds and then receive their very own plant pot of seeds to take home. They will then be asked to take photos and record how their cress has grown in the coming weeks.

“Thursday is also a chance for children to fill in their learning books that they bring along to each event and it’s a great little memento for parents, especially for those who are going off to school in early September.

“We hope everyone has a lovely time at our Stay & Play morning next week and we can’t wait to see the how the children’s cress plants grow over the next few weeks.”

The Stay & Play fun takes place from 9.30am to 11.30am in Druckers Café on the last Thursday of each month and is free for anyone looking after children to attend with the little ones.
