50 pairs of Cinema Tickets to give away to ‘Community Heroes’

October 30, 2014

THE hunt is on for Tamworth’s community heroes to treat them to a private cinema viewing of the new Paddington Bear movie, thanks to Ankerside and Tamworth Round Table.

Ankerside Shopping Centre has teamed up with Tamworth Round Table to secure 50 pairs of tickets to see the film on December 6.

The movie sees Bond star Ben Wishaw as the voice of the marmalade sandwich-loving  bear from Peru who goes in search of adventure. The comedy is based on Michael Bond’s much-loved books and opens in British cinemas  on November 28.

It also features Dr Who Peter Capaldi, Harry Potter stars Michael Gambon and Julie Walters, plus Downton Abbey’s Lord Grantham  Hugh Bonneville.

Santa will be handing out the tickets for the screening at the town’s Odeon Cinema on December 6  – and wants nominations for those who deserve a pair, young or old.

Ankerside Shopping centre manager Pete Barber said: “This is our early Christmas present to those who help make our community a better place. So we want to hear from anybody who would like to nominate a Tamworth person who gives that bit extra.

“It could be a good neighbour who checks up on older people living nearby or helps with their gardens, a volunteer driver for charity collections, a youngster who has helped raise funds for their school or runs a group for younger children, or maybe somebody who stepped in with first aid after an accident.

“There are a lot of people in Tamworth who help out to make sure our community is a great place to live – now it’s time to say thank you.”

Tamworth Round Table Chairman Paul Bryant said: “We are grateful to Ankerside Shopping centre for funding the screening of this film. We will have Santa and his sleigh at the Odeon, to help get everybody into the Christmas spirit.

“I am sure that everybody can think of somebody who deserves a treat like this – I am looking forward to reading the nominations.”

To nominate a person for a pair of tickets, just explain in less than 100 words why they deserve a pair of free tickets to see Paddington bear on December 6. Make sure you include their name, address and daytime phone number, along with your own.

Make  your nomination through Ankerside’s Facebook page or email  the Round Table on vc@tamworthroundtable.co.uk  and put PADDINGTON in the subject line.

The winners will be selected on a first-come basis, so make sure you get your nomination in quickly. Tickets are only available for December 6 and are not transferable.
