See professional women’s cyclists in Warwickshire

Ovo energy womens tour

THIS week you can see professional women’s cyclists in North Warwickshire as Stage 3 of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour takes place on Friday 9 June.

17 top teams of professional women’s cyclists, including the world’s number one team Boels Dolmans, Wiggle High 5 and the two British teams, Drops Cycling and Team WNT Pro Cycling will be competing in Stage 3 of this years tour.

Route

From the Market Square, the cyclists will take the same route as 2016 along North Street, back along Long Street before leaving the town via Coleshill Road heading for Arley, Fillongley and Meriden finishing in Royal Leamington Spa around 2.15pm – visit Warwickshire County Council for complete route details with expected timings. Stage 3 through North Warwickshire

Five leaders’ jerseys

Within The Women’s Tour there are five leaders’ jerseys, including Queen of the Mountains and The Yellow jersey given to the Tours leading rider. Each jersey is presented following every stage to the rider leading that competition’s classification.

The teams and leading cyclists will be welcomed onto the podium by the ‘master of ceremonies’, introduced to the crowds and presented with a Charlie Bear by local school children in Market Square.

Pre race ride out – 24 local year 6 pupils

The competitors will line up along Sheepy Road and into Market Square before the race is officially started at 10:00 and travel on North Street, Long Street, Coleshill Road to Arley, Fillongley and Meriden. Then See photo below of the 2016 start below or watch a video on our Facebook page.

Parking for visitors

  • Road signs directing traffic to the parking will be displayed from Thursday 8 June.
  • Marshals will also be in place to direct people into the town
