Explosion rattles windows in Kingsbury

AN explosion in Kingsbury has left home owners fearful after a loud bang was heard and windows rattled.

The incident happened shortly after mid-day today, Tuesday 8 August.  Residents described hearing a ‘massive explosion’ as the recycling unit exploded.

It is believed that a gas cylinder was involved and the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The site of the incident is EMR on Trinity Road in Kingsbury.

No one is believed to have been hurt in the incident.

A Warwickshire Police spokesperson told Tamworth Informed:  “Warwickshire Police were called at 12:34pm today (Tuesday, 8 August) to reports of an explosion at a recycling plant on Trinity Road, Kingsbury.

“Officers along with Fire & Rescue service are at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

“There are no reports of any injuries.

“This is an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public.”
