PEOPLE interested in raising money to help their local community are being invited to use a brand new fundraising platform.
Housed on Crowdfunder.co.uk, ‘Crowdfund Staffordshire’ will give people in the county a way to showcase their project to the thousands of people who regularly donate to good causes online.
Any local charity, business, social enterprise or individual can use Crowdfund Staffordshire to raise funds from supporters. The new online platform also includes free advice, coaching, webinars and workshops to help people with simple and practical advice to make sure their fundraising campaign is a success.
Staffordshire County Council has also set aside a £50,000 ‘Children and Families Fund’. Any project that helps to support the health and wellbeing of vulnerable children and families may be eligible for up to £5,000 from the fund, if the community also support it.
Gill Heath, Cabinet Member for Communities at Staffordshire County Council said:
“Thousands of people are already getting involved in supporting their local community, which is making a huge difference. But we know that hundreds more groups have great ideas, but need more money to get them off the ground. That’s why we’re really pleased to be launching Crowdfund Staffordshire and help people unlock the power of the crowd.
“We want Staffordshire to be a great place to live, with strong and resilient communities that work for everyone, and this is one of the ways that we’re helping community’s to take the lead locally. Not only will ‘Crowdfund Staffordshire’ help us get direct funding straight to groups but it also gives local residents the opportunity to support the projects they know can make a real difference in their area.”
Community Organiser, Eileen Jordan, has been the driving force behind many successful community projects in Stafford, including the Old Chapel Works. This is a ‘Social Action Hub” which offers support and services to the local community and provides opportunities in volunteering and Training.
Eileen, who is looking forward to the launch of Crowdfund Staffordshire, said:
“Crowdfund Staffordshire is a great idea. I love the process and from my experience in working with local community groups, this will give them a great platform to access extra funding and support. In turn the projects will help make a big difference within their local communities particularly as they understand the issues affecting them better than anyone. A great addition to the support and help to access the crowdfund is the Councils promise to match fund eligible projects up to £5,000…Brilliant news all round!
“I’m already thinking about a couple of new projects for Old Chapel Works which we’ll be putting on Crowdfund Staffordshire and look forward to applying. I will definitely spread the word and encourage other community groups to get on-board.”
Phil Pusey, Chief Executive at Staffordshire Council of Voluntary Youth Services said:
“Crowdfund Staffordshire is a great idea that will provide groups with an additional tool to help them raise money for equipment, programmes or projects that benefit local individuals and communities. It offers the potential to tap into donations from new sources such as individuals and companies, who may be passionate about the cause and keen to make a positive, tangible difference in the community.
“The investment of the County Council to provide donations that fit with their criteria is also welcome too and SCVYS will be signposting groups that they work with to the new platform.”
“Crowdfund Staffordshire gives the local community the opportunity to get behind the projects that are close to their heart,” said Crowdfunder Director and Co-Founder, Dawn Bebe. “By showing their support for specific projects, local residents can highlight to Staffordshire County Council the type of projects they think should receive funding and grow in their community. I’d encourage any project, or person with an idea, to register their interest early to secure the best support possible.”
Organisations can get crowdfunding today and can also pre-register for the ‘Children and Families Fund’ on: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/funds/crowdfund-staffordshire
“People who want to donate to good causes are out there. Crowdfunder has already helped people raise over £30million for good causes and over 75% of Staffordshire people regularly donate online. Crowdfund Staffordshire is a great way for Staffordshire groups to get a slice of that.
“Now’s the time to get your project on Crowdfund Staffordshire and start raising money, awareness and support. It’s easy to sign up, and remember, if your project benefits local children and families who need support and receives a strong backing, you could be eligible for up to £5,000 more from us.”
