TAMWORTH families had a glorious time at the town’s shopping centre last week, as they played exciting garden-themed games and made flowers at Ankerside in Bloom.
On Wednesday, 2 August, Ankerside Shopping Centre launched its summer of free family fun giving youngsters the chance to enjoy learning about how their garden grows.
The centre’s first of three Ankerside in Bloom events brought bloomin’ brilliant characters Duggie and Rosa Bloom to Tamworth, with everything from water cycle games to watering flowers and the chance to make paper flowers. Plus, Ankerside was filled with floral props including a garden swing.
Manager of Ankerside Shopping Centre, Jeff Wigley, said the children of Tamworth had a great start to their school break with garden fun at the centre. “We really wanted to keep children of all ages occupied during the school holidays, so we thought organising bi-weekly summer activities would be perfect.
“During our first session, children came along to learn all about water cycles and how to feed flowers by transforming into little seedlings for the Ankerside Garden. Plus, they also had the chance to make their own paper flowers to take home,” Jeff said.
“Next week Ankerside’s summer of fun will continue with a visit from Tamworth LitFest, who will be showing examples of their papercraft activities by creating characters from popular films and TV shows as well as summer activities with Community Together,” he said. “Ankerside in Bloom will return on Wednesday, 16 August with our characters Flora and Rosa creating the centre’s very own floral choir as well as the chance to make a flower headdress and garland.
“We hope everyone had a fantastic time at our first Ankerside in Bloom event and we look forward to seeing everyone enjoy the Tamworth LitFest activities next week.”
